The Great Migration
Maasai Warriors
Undoubtedly one of our most popular safari destinations, and more recently becoming a family favourite. It's themed in movies, and home to some of Africa’s most significant icons; Mt Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater.
In a storybook setting; Tanzania offers an abundance of game second to none on the African continent, and is home to the “great migration”, which in turn benefits and supports an impressive lion population.
The migration is a continuous phenomenon, as the one-million-plus herbivores continue a never-ending search for palatable grasses. The process takes roughly a year to traverse the greater Serengeti eco-system, which includes the Maasai Mara in Kenya. A vital component in planning a Tanzanian safari is choosing properties within close proximity to the majority herds location.
No Tanzanian northern safari circuit is complete without a visit to some of the other impressive conservation area's, including; Manyara with the tree climbing lions, the Ngorongoro Crater in search of some of the planets last remaining black rhino and Tarangire, which has the most abundant elephant population for this area.
Tanzania also offers a southern circuit consisting of the Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park, and a western circuit centring on Katavi and Mahale National parks. These are less travelled areas for the family experience but offer incredibly diverse safari experiences for the adventure seeking wilderness fan. Mahale is sometimes referred to as the premier chimp viewing destination in Africa.
Lastly, for the ultimate adventure-seeking enthusiasts, Tanzania is home to the nineteen thousand plus feet Mt Kilimanjaro, which is nearly 6,000 meters above sea level.
